My name is Sissy Gorbet. I was born in Colony, Oklahoma at the Mclemore Ranch October 14th 2005. When I was born my umbilical cord was wrapped around my right front leg and was not saveable. Jason and Sharla Cook were at the Ranch shopping for a Christmas dog and found my friend Birdie not to far from my mom and me. As they were leaving Sharla spotted me and thought I was so cute and special because I was missing my leg, they just bundled me up and took me home with Birdie.

I guess it was like having twins because I am 6 weeks younger. Birdie and I got to visit Javonna and Larry sometimes, and they gave us lots of love and attention. When Jason came to take me home I would hear Javonna and Larry hinting that they needed another dog since their Dog Buddy had passed on. He had diabetes and had special needs of 2 insulin shots a day. Jason and Sharla knew that I would have a good home so they decided to let them adopt me. I could see all of them again because Jason is Javonna's brother. My new mom bought me a new dog stroller and started taking me to the park on a daily stroll. I think that is when she started dreaming about getting me a new leg so I could go on walks without the stroller. That's when Kyle Sherk at Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics agreed to help me out. Kyle made me a new leg. Mom said I needed school so I would know how to behave when she took me places. It took me 16 long weeks to graduate, and now she has me back in school at the K9 University to become a therapy dog. I will be visiting patients at hospitals to try and cheer people up a little. School is hard for me but I know I can do it. If you see me out shopping with my Mom and Dad, stop and pet me. I like my tummy rubbed. SISSY
